I’ve been dabbling in websites and CMS systems for almost two decades now. From bare-metal HTML and CSS to WordPress, Ghost, and many others, the fact of the matter is that writing and publishing content on the web can become pretty complicated real quick. But it doesn’t have to be. If you have a collection of notes, simple documentation, or articles, there is no need to invest in a resource-intensive and maintenance-heavy content management system. For most of my recent projects, I’ve simply wanted something lightweight that allows me to write in plain text and publish it as a website. Something focused on structure, getting information out, rather than design. That is exactly where MkDocs and the Material theme project fit in. It’s allowed me to get a clean and professional-looking site up and running incredibly quickly. It works on practically any device and is easy to maintain. Sounds like a winner.
