Hey There, Welcome to My Dev Journey! 🚀Let’s Kick Things Off!
Hey folks! I’m Gjo (aka GJO.Dev), and this is my first-ever blog post right here on Hashnode. Super pumped to share my rollercoaster ride into development with you all. Imagine a mix of coding, late-night snacks, and “Aha!” moments, and you’ve got a good picture of my last few years!
Way Back When
My tech story kicked off at age 12, believe it or not, but it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Between being a soccer fanatic and not exactly rolling in dough, it took me until 2022 to really get my coding gloves on. Balancing a full-time gig and chasing a soccer ball around, I decided it was finally time to hit the play button on my coding dreams.
School Days and Code Plays
In January of 2022 I jumped headfirst into “The Complete 2022 Web Developer Bootcamp” by Angela Yu on Udemy. That course was a game-changer for me, and guess what? It’s now called “The Complete 2024 Web Developer Bootcamp”—talk about staying updated! If you’re curious, check it out right here.
Fired up by all the cool stuff I was learning, I took another giant leap and enrolled in a Bachelor’s in Web Development at Full Sail University. Yep, still juggling work and studies like a circus act, but loving it! Peek at the course over here.
Breaking Out of Tutorial Jail
Oh, and let me tell you about getting stuck in tutorial hell. It’s like binge-watching your favorite series but not remembering a thing when you try to talk about it. I learned the hard way that real growth comes from building stuff, not just watching others do it. So, I started getting my hands dirty with actual projects, and boy, did that change the game!
Shoutout to My Digital Pals
Throughout this journey, my lifelines have been Google, Stack Overflow, ChatGPT, and some epic Discord communities. A little tip from me—don’t just copy-paste your way through tutorials. Play around, break things, fix them, and learn. It’s the secret sauce to becoming a great developer.
Wrapping Up with a Smile 😊
So here I am, not all-knowing but definitely with a trick or two up my sleeve, and more to learn every day. Sharing this journey might just light the spark for someone else out there. Remember, it’s all about sticking with it, experimenting, and having fun along the way. Side Note keep in mind what worked for me may not work for you due to the fact that everyone has different learning styles but we are all continuously learning in whichever way works best for us. I’d love to hear your learning styles as well feel free to comment and let me know!
Thanks for dropping by! Can’t wait to dive into more coding adventures and share them right here with you. Stay tuned!
